Design and Delivery of international strategic HR programme for ACI World

The Challenge

The organisation, leadership and people challenges facing the airport sector have increased considerably over recent years as the business has grown, and become more complex.


There is therefore a demand for more strategic thinking on organisation and people issues from both line managers and HR professionals - whose focus is often administrative rather than strategic.


Airports Council International (ACI World) , the membership organisation representing over 95% of the world's airports, asked us to design and deliver a global programme which would respond to these needs.  

What we did

We designed an interactive strategic HR programme based on the overall HR process:


Day 1 Setting the Context: Vision, Business Startegy, HR Strategy

Day 2 High Performance Organisation: Organisation Design, Performance Mgt

Day 3: Talent management: Attract, Recruit, Deploy, Train , Develop

Day 4: Engagement and Motivation, Recognition and Reward

Day 5: Organisation and Individual Change, including organisation learning


Objectives of the programme are as follows:  


Set the context for strategic HR in the 21st century

Outline key concepts and frameworks for airport HR management

Review key HR activities required to create the high performance airport

Develop particpant's skills in these areas

Educate participants about the importance of leadership, change and effective people management



The course has been run in locations including Amman, Abu Dhabi, Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul and will be run in 2014 in Cape Town, Riga, Johannesburg, Tehran and Kuala Lumpur.
